Lifetime

 When reality sets in and

 emotions come to terms,

I understand the story is

but one side in review.

Each visual that surfaces

and memory that comes into play

takes on a different meaning

in the most unusual way.

Maybe it was selfish 

or survival to get thru the day,

Interpretation of the chapters 

adding sunshine where once rain.

One thing is most certain, 

that choices never fade, 

compounded over a lifetime 

the consequences are always the 

same. 

When the conclusion is written

and all that was is all that is, 

all the steps within this journey

become memories that slowly dim.
