Our Dance

I gazed up at the heavens
to the skies a sparkling blue
and my heart began racing
as I quickly thought of you.

Parted by the distance and
weighted like a rose with dew
and somehow I could feel your
love as if I were next to you.

I can't erase the yesterdays
or rewrite a chapter or two,
but with you this moment
is scripted with love for you.

No tears or sorrow between us
nor skies both dark and gray,
for this my love is quite special,
special in its very own way.

I gazed up at the heavens
to the skies a sparkling blue
and my heart began racing
as I quickly thought of you.

~

I'm gonna light a candle
enough to see you,
I'm gonna hold you close
and whisper " I love you."

This is our dance,
the dance of life,
forever and ever
day and night.

I'm gonna dream,
dream you in my arms
I'm gonna hold you
right here in my heart.

This is our dance,
the dance of life,
forever and ever
day and night.

I'm gonna wish
till we're a hundred one,
that you're gonna love me
under the moon and the sun.

This is our dance,
the dance of life,
forever and ever
day and night.

I'm gonna sing
a love song for you,
foolish or not that
is what lovers do.

This is our dance,
the dance of life,
forever and ever
day and night.

~
I challenge the mountains,
the rivers and the seas,
I challenge the distance
that keeps your flesh from me.

Tear drops have fallen
with emotion filled love,
they tell the story of you
and I as one.

I challenge the mountains,
the rivers and the seas,
I challenge the distance
that keeps your flesh from me.

~
If it were that easy
you'd be here in my arms,
like the love I have for you
that I hold in my heart.

I'm walking around blindly
and still I can see,
as the love I have for you
have given sight to me.

My children always called it " double digits" when you celebrate a birthday no longer in single numbers. They said it was leaving the child in you behind. I always felt that ten year old spirit kept one foot in childhood and one in adulthood. It was the teenage years that I felt I left a lot behind. Part of my love for life. I am not so fond of winter and yet there was a time when I didn't mind it at all. Somehow we are forced to grow up. But the compounded tears of heartache have me reaching for the child in me.
Lay beside me upon the new fallen snow, like a child playing and making angels in the snow. Throwing a snowball  and giving you a kiss or two, I'm celebrating winter just thinking of you.  The holiday season reminds us of what we lost but I'd rather focus on love, whew the room is getting hot.
Somehow a smile appears from these lips and my heart races at the thought of a kiss. I'll wipe away the tears before they freeze of ice and remember the magic that we have shared in this life.
There is no fairy tale ending nor heaven written script. Unique as it is I close my eyes to taste the sweetness of your lips. Angels must have guided or directed in away that our souls would collide in the most unusual way.  So I hope you don't mind if I don't let go, I'm holding on to love as the love between us grows.
