Death

 Death comes in many forms,

I have felt it more than once.

The void that is left behind

darkens with each round.

The heart no longer beats

and the tears no longer fall,

the emotions are all but gone

and with them goes the song.

Celebrate the Moment

Even though I am keeping busy this winter while making supplies for the upcoming season, it doesn't stop my mind from being saturated with thought. I can remember the moment that it occurred to me that my grandmother had outlived most of her family and friends. I never asked her about it but I had always wondered exactly how she felt having to grieve over so many people or for that matter outlive them all. Grandma has buried two husbands, children and grandchildren, siblings and many friends. I began to think about those people who I had to say goodbye. The numbers were adding up, I also lost siblings, a parent, grandparents and close friends. It was never easy saying goodbye. Each time I felt as if it took something from me , rather than leaving something within me. I kept thinking about what my nearest friend Nancy said " when God closes a door, he opens a window." The truth is in my mountain God opened many windows, one at at time, I view threw them and saw images of hope. There was the other adage " you don't know what  you have until it's gone." Both statements were so true as new moments occurred nothing could replace the void left by those doors that had been closed. I found the irony of death was that it had revealed itself in many ways and not always was it the death of a body but sometimes it was death of a soul or the death within the heart.
Closing doors is an incredibly painful experience and yet a necessary part of life. The end cycle of our journey as felt by those who know and love us most. Other than watching love ones suffer in their last days of demise is the reality that we are all vulnerable and death will visit us all.
Tomorrow brings with us a new day, what that new day holds is yet to be seen. Touching hearts and souls has a way of bringing happiness and in the end can weigh heavily upon both heart and soul. Grandma was a magical woman with amazing qualities, she worked hard and loved life. She kept those closest to her in memory through pictures and articles which she proudly framed like a gallery along the walls.
Life is a book of many chapters, the characters evolve and we find that each day is a gift. Most of my life I believed that our destiny was to journey while fulfilling a goal according to the script of life. For some it is a very short time upon the other and for others it takes much longer to complete the journey. What is the journey and what is the plan that needs to be followed out? For each person it is so different as we see very young people leave the earth in what seems like way to soon. As my daughter send a text " I love you mom" I was quickly reminded how one life touches another and how we live on through so many people after our demise.

In the garden of life the blooms are
ongoing as one dies, one opens.

Always in my heart,
forever in my mind,
touched by an angel
you have never left
my side.

Words without meaning,
songs of happiness and
dances on the cloud
where we share that
special kiss.
~

I wanted a blueprint,
a plan that told me so,
which way to journey
and where I should go.

Who would hold my hand
and never let it go, how long
I would have and how many
seasons were left to go.

I had my share of memories,
the smiles that warmed my heart,
embraces my soul both near
and afar.

It wasn't always easy,
sometimes I cried a lot,
but the network was
expanding the journey far
and wide.

We have to embrace the chapter
and celebrate the moment.

When Death Nears

I found this from an older post and I thought to myself what has changed from that period of time? If the words are heard by one, if a heart is touched just as mine, if a soul understands the journey, than I am free to soar beyond the heavens high.

~
I have put off writing to my Aunt, she has outlived her children and her husband, I think that is the worst of pain to not be able to share that love with those you love the most. To grieve many times over in the passing of a soul.

We are cast a part in our time here on earth,
sometimes is is as short as a day and occasionally
we live longer only time has the last say.

The journey is in the touching, the love we share,
the magic of a lifetime for those with whom we
cared.

The complicated network  consist of heart and
souls, one upon the other reveals the treasure we
hold.

Created with memories that no one can take
away, I dare not cry for the flesh, for the love
always remains.
~
Held a child, held him close,
whispered words of love,
felt such pride as I watched him grow.
Took my hand and my heart through
out all of life and now in the wind his
spirit blows.

I believe that we are set upon this earth to journey in away that leaves something behind for the next soul. In the short time period that we are here on earth, we reach out and touch more people than we can imagine. Sometimes it really is that listening ear, the smile, the hugs and the memories that are created as we touch one and other in the most profound ways. I am not sure anyone realizes the power they are given to alter a moment. So precious is the gift of life that we are never quite ready to give it up. The beauty is from the impact that those who have come into our life behind. There is a lesson to be learned from all those who cross our path, even moments that seem at the time less than pleasant, teach us something about our own human emotions.

I have lived, loved, touched and have been touched in away that is eternal, such is the magic of life.

The Spirit of Love

Surfacing above my current bout with laryngitis it all seem quite trivial as I reviewed my most recent dialogue with a woman who is battling stage four cancer. Her voice quivered as she shared her thoughts on her own inner peace and her greater sense of concern for those left behind. In our most recenct conversation she said " there is no chance, our meeting was to occur as I sensed your empathy from the very first moment I spoke. "

I was granted a rare privilege to step into her inner realm and view life through her eyes. In an ironic twist of faith, here I was trying to complete a project and for the first time faced with the reality of a true deadline. I kept thinking here is a woman who is intelligent who obviously has much to give and that as she spoke, her wise and warm personality flowed. Yet her brief stint on earth was quickly coming to an end, how was I to document the moments we were sharing.

How precious is that of life, with each breath we meet with challenges and confront an array of issues. I realized more than ever, that there are certain goals, paths, journeys, or whatever one feels comfortable referring to them as, that we will experience. Somehow as I battled the last several years on a rather personal level, I had become more aware that it wasn't what I thought or imagined, it was what truly was meant to be. Like that of a unwinding bail of twine, as the threads unravels, the secrets of life unfold.

It is almost as if my travels were built of a cobble stone path, the brick were laid by other than circumstances and the past. Somehow the more people I met the more the path found direction. It gives true meaning to in giving we recieve.
~

In learning we begin to appreciate.
~
In loving we find that all paths circle back.
~
In the end of a moment is the beginning of a story.
~
We live to experience,
we experience to live.
~
I rejoice not in my achievements,
but for the glory of your embrace.
~

The spirit of love lives within all of us,
as long as we are willing to accept its embrace.

When the rhythm of the spirit no longer steps to life and the journey on this earth is ended and my soul takes its final flight. Celebrate joyously for I have journeyed far and on my travels I have reached to the farthest stars. I spent my life fighting for the freedom just to be and when the time is chosen heed my final plea, to blow my ashes in the wind of a stormy sea, for at that very moment I will finally be free.
